The Bowen Technique
The Bowen Technique is an holistic approach to improving health and well being.
It is not manipulation or massage. Instead, it consists of a series of gentle
moves over muscles and tendons on specific areas of the body. This provides
a unique sense of relaxation.
The principle of the technique is that, the energy contained within the fluid
content of the body is altered. It is believed that this disturbance of energy
provides a kick-start to the body’s innate healing system.
The Bowen Technique is a procedure that is generally considered to be suitable
for most people including children and pregnant women. The result of treatment
is usually a reduction of pain and other symptoms and an improvement in blood
supply and lymphatic drainage. Many of those who receive Bowen therapy find
that, in addition to their specific problem being helped, they acquire a new
sense of awareness and clarity, enabling them to cope better with the stresses
of life. An improvement in sleep pattern is often experienced resulting in an
increase in energy.
Treatment is generally given at weekly intervals. The number of sessions required
depends on the nature of the condition and the body’s ability to respond.
Athletes, dancers, sportsmen and women and many others in the competitive field
have the Bowen Technique regularly as they believe it enhances their performance.
